Now the terrorists are destroying our culture, they are probably going to introduce opium, to please their Afghan masters
The scary thing that prevents me from laughing with you is that, this might be happening in the future if Al shabab takes over. :|

Actually it has been reported that some talibans are highly addicted to opium. Their income also comes from selling opium. When some talibans banned opium production in some parts of afghanistan, these talibans became much poorer financally. Doesnt take a genious to understand why.

Fool there are many reports showing that the Taliban profited and supported the opium trade. Infact during the time of Taliban tyranny, afghanistan was the world's #1 opium exporter.

So defend the undefendable

Coeus,

I completely agree with the banning of khat in Somalia. The drug does more harm than good. It might provide small economic benefit but that can be replaced. The greatest economic benefactor aren't even Somali's but Kenyans. However it creates long term health problems, and social issues as well.

Also for the comment about culture. If culture impacts society negatively then it should be banned. Culture is not an excuse to keep wrongful things going. FGM is deeply rooted in Somali culture do you think it should be allowed?

Can they get rid of khat, the answer is yes relatively speaking. They can curb it, and make it difficult for people to get thus making it less prevalent i n society. Of course they can't eliminate it all, but u can't eliminate murder all together either, but that doesn't mean u shouldn't put an effort to stopping it.
