The largest moon in the Solar System will undergo a 3-hour eclipse on Nov. 28. Ganymede, the largest moon in the solar system and one of planet Jupiter’s moons will eclipse.
The four biggest moons orbiting Jupiter – Ganymede, Callisto, Io, and Europa – are called Galilean Satellites. They are named after Galileo Galilei who discovered them in 1610 through a homemade telescope.
Observing the eclipses of Jupiter’s moons led to the first measurement of the speed of light in 1676 by the Danish astronomer Ola Romer.
