People are obsessed with keeping busy

Postby *Nobleman* » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:53 pm

I find people are obsessed with keeping busy. Having free time or being free is frowned upon. People I work with plan action packed weekends and evenings to avoid being free.

I dont know if i'm over thinking it or if it is one of my philosophical mumblings.

For some people free time = time for man to reflect = when man sees how meaningless his current existence is = man being in a depressive state.

I feel free time should be for reflection and to admire the sign of Allah swt.

Just my thoughts from today.

I agree with baby girl. I love squeezing my activities into one part of the week to create more free time. In fact I'm busy some days in order to create free time.

Nothing better than just sitting on my bed, looking at the ceiling reflecting on life.

correct, that is why I like most of my day to be reflection time or meditation time what ever we call it :D , tell these people that I thought I was crazy when I talk to myself it is normal.

To be more serious, I feel guilty if I dont do much with my free time, I dont know why.

Thats how we have been programmed man. Free time means were useless and end up being guilty. Reflection is the way forward.

I suppose not being busy is seen as you're either lazy, boring or depressed. The topic of conversation at work is usually about your plans for the evening or weekend or what you did last night or last weekend....if you've done nothing interesting in a couple of weeks...you get comments like, you really need to start going out, I know a really good bar in blah blah....

Nobleman there is a word for such people, workjocks. All one needs is a muse, a cash flow automated business that funds your lifestyle and you´re good to go.

Nobelman is a beatles fan.

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
and stops my mind from wandering
where it will go
I'm filling the cracks that ran though the door
and kept my mind from wandering
where it will go

And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong
I'm right where I belong
I'm right where I belong
See the people standing there
who disagree and never win
and wonder why they don't get in my door

I'm painting my room in a colorful way,
and when my mind is wandering
there I will go

And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong
I'm right where I belong
I'm right where I belong
Silly people run around
they worry me and never ask me
why they don't get past my door

I'm taking my time for a number of things
that weren't important yesterday
and I still go

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
and stops my mind from wandering
where it will go
where it will go
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
and stops my mind from wandering
where it will go

l don't remember having some good free time in my entire adulthood. It is not I keep busy to avoid free time but I am always busy catching up with life and never getting free time as a result. Having a busy lifestyle teaches you how to manage time and multi-task. Some studies show that ppl who don't do much with their time tend to get sick more often.

Even if the opportunity presents itself, I'd rather do some voluntary work than do nothing.
