The Family...is it me or...?

Postby Enlightened~Sista » Wed Dec 01, 2010 2:35 pm

is it really boring? I'm not saying the Nigerian family is { I quite like them } but there seems to be something wrong with the format..videoing them around the clock in the same environment waking up, going to the toilet, fixing themselves something to eat, sitting in front of the T.V

Eyes very cheap indeed. It would have been more interesting if they were followed out and about London by a REAL cameraman instead they just stuck dozen or so cameras around the house and hoped that would give them one helleva show.

It's a bit like big brother isn't it, except with a cultural twist....I think they're trying to give people a real understanding of how others live.

Not exactly. It is a reality show about a Nigerian family and the daily interactions between members of that family. In the previous one, it revealed (to the uninitiated) how typical Indian families function and the distribution of power amongst members of the family. The boys are spoilt, the girls are downtrodden. Now, with this Nigerian family, it also shows how siblings interact and the respect accorded to each member according to their age. In both cases, the mothers rule the roost.

(Admittedly, I only watched one episode of this new one and five or six of the previous one).

A Somali family would be interesting, I've never seen another one other than mine so it would be cool to observe others and how they function.

ps The Nigerian mother is ruude, "Shot up, Don't you see I'm making this birthday cake for you, standing tha whole day"
