As it stands now, the average man is already borderline radical. The majority of Egyptians are very poor (by western standards at least) and the anti-establishment sentiments of the MB appeal to them greatly. If the United States were to stop funding Hosni Mubarak, his government would collapse and the MB would win in a landslide election. The MB obviously is not very good for America, in fact it is outright hostile to all American interests, and Egyptain too. They have a simple worldview where 'Israel+America=greatest evils in the world' and will do everything to undermine America. This isn't good for Egypt either because it's international standing will suffer, perhaps even becoming an internatinal pariah like Iran, and all those Western tourists wont be spending thousands to see pharaoh as their lives are in-danger. Heck, those crazy radicals might even try to blow up the Pyramids like the Taliban blew up in the ancient Buddha statues in Afghanistan. While there may be some merits to your argument, it's an obvious fact that the MB is a real and substantial threat to the United States and must be kept from power in Egypt, however unpopular that maybe to the Arab street crowd.
