Its not about blood. Its about identity. The Somali nation identifies itself through a complex patriarchal tribal system. If you are not paternally Somali, it doesnt matter how much Somali "blood" is in you, regardless of % and ratios , you are not a Somali by identity.

The clan system is the foundation of what it is to be a Somali. Over 100 years ago, the address of somebody, their whereabouts, their marriages, their issues would have been resolved through cthe clan. Am I embarassing myself for saying that the clan system is an integral part of Somali identity? You seem quite perplexed, maybe its because you've had a bad experience with discrimination. My friend, the horizon is wider than looking back only to 1991. If you read Somali history, we were never a unified nation but tribal kingdoms, clan fiefdoms and patriarchal dictatorships. That, my friend, is Somali clan history.

In regards to the Gabooye, it is just a form of discrimination against a few clans simply because of ignorance and fear stemming from the other Somalis. However, the Gabooye are native whilst "jir cad" or "carab" are not.
