AMISOM wouldn't bombard the city unless Al-shabaab stops the fight. Al-shabaab need to know that each little bomb they throw then AMISOM will have to retaliate which ends up AMISOM throwing bigger bombs. So Al-shabaab know what they are doing, and to stop AMISOM doing this they have to stop firing and start ceasefire simple as! AMISOM are here for a job, to end their job AL-shabaab has to stop the war just like Ahlu-sunnah did. Everybody wants AMISOM to leave, but for them to leave AL-shabaab have to end this bloodbath they spill. They are the ones calling the shots whether we call them terrorists or Mahdi army. These guys are the only ppl willing to die for their cause.
As much as we may hate them, the question "do we have any alternative?" still remains unanswered. If you think the western world with their fancy nickname "international community (IC)" is helping Somalia, think again. They have been building and dismantling TFG since Abdiqasim era. None of those short lived governments wanted to be overthrown but the IC did it.
Some of you argue that we have democracy in Somalia and the TFG is democratically elected. This notion is false and misleading. The west used Abdulahi Yusuf to eliminate the ICU then picked up Sheik Sharif from the border area and gave him 250 extra seats in the parliament to make sure he becomes the next president. That's 100% increase of the parliament size. You see what they are doing! They told us we needed a parliament and gave us the number of seats. Then they doubled the size to fit into their plan. Basically TFG is a faction created, funded and maintained by foreigners who are using Somalia for their own gain, whatever that is. Every Somali in this faction is there for his personal benefits.
To sum it up, the conflict is between western money vs Alqaeda convictions. The shababs are are willing to die for their convictions. Are you willing to die for above described TFG?
