Al-shabaab do control much of the South but they are just holding it at the tip of their fingers. How? TFG is the government of Somalia so far, their role is to bring real goverment through dialogue with oppositions such as clan rebels, so-called religious rebels etc. Somalia will not have peace until all these rebels stop the war and come to the table. TFG has to organise the goverment of Somalia. Just because AL-shabaab has in control of Somalia doesn't mean they have the power to contribute and organise a country without any skills, how can Al-shabaab create a government? while their ideology is against governance. How can they bring Sharia Law in Somalia? when they have no Sharia Law qualification. When making a government the foundation of the government has to be based on cohesion, what Al-shabaab are trying to do is to overthrow TFG but what better can they do? Can they produce diplomacy around the world, bring economic relation with other countries. Al-shabaab doesn't want government but wants to make a Al-QAEDA base in Somalia. So it is must that we support the TFG so that the TFG can overcome the legitimacy of turning into a Federal Somali Government instead of transistional.

Al-Qaeda in arabic means base. It was created by Osama Bin Laden during Russian invasion of Afghanistan. Osama Bin Laden at that time worked for the USA. The USA gave Osama bin Landen around 3 billion dollars so that Osama bin Laden can organise a group to attack Russia ( at that time USA and Russia were enemies), during that time; Osama bin Laden was organising a Jihad campaign, he met this Takfir Sheikh that taught him wrong ideologies about Islam, which later on amazingly Osama bin Laden used the 3 billion to terrorise America instead. Al-Qeada main role is to start FITNA Jihad when there is no structure for the muslim countries. The time of the real Jihad will come insha'allah but we Muslims don't know when exactly, and these so-called Jihad Campaigns are sects with wrong ideology. Jihad will come when all the Muslim ummah unite, but AL-Qeada is a different story that we don't want in Somalia.

Firstly America did create Al-Qaeda and got backfired. Is America a bigger threat to us than Al-Qaeda? No, Al-Qaeda is actually a bigger threat as they put Islam at risk but also to the world. America is a western country that suffers economic problems but have significant role in the globe today. They have big power in the world but their power is flawed and imperfect because they are state that has many enemies such as the Islamic states (Middle East, Iran), North Korea, Venezuela etc. Therefore America cannot cause bigger problems as they have their own problems to think of. Whereas Al-Qaeda couldn’t careless as their ‘crazy’ ideology is just to cause Jihad and gain nothing out of it, therefore they are more likely to cause more problems to us Somalis. We have 20 years of war; do you think having Al-Qaeda in the country will make it better? Not at all, it will turn Somalia into Afghanistan and cause further destruction. America might not be in our good books but sure are they beneficial to us. We want to get a peaceful country and to have it we have to compromise ‘until we have what we have’ which is peace, and both economic and social development, Markaas baa la’la xisaabtimo doona America iyo jinni walba. That's what I mean there is no such things as new Salafi's. The Salafi's are the last three generations after the Sahabas. People try to say that all these people with the wrong ideology are Salafi. When the Aqeedah-tul Salaf is no way near to those Aqeedah this groups follow. May Allah make us like the Salaf's, true mu'mins.

I think you need to look it up. Salafiyah Jadida hate Alshabab and vice versa. Alshabab are mostly referred to as Salafi Jihadis. Salafi Jadida view the current Muslims leaders as legitimate rulers whereas Salafi Jihadis view them as puppets who should be overthrown. The jadidi Somali Ulema even said it was haram to resist Habashis SO they have nothing to do with Alshabab.
