James Dahl, those are noble ideas and when peace is fully established, inshallah it will happen.Flooding and drought are two periodic problems in Somalia, and Somalia has a shortage of reliable electricity, but all three of these problems can be alleviated with hydroelectric dams.
Egypt had the same problems until the construction of the Aswan dam and the Lake Nasser water reservoir provided hydroelectricity to millions of Egyptians, a vast water reservoir for agriculture, and regulated the flow of the Nile, making the deadly Nile floods a thing of the past.
The deadly flooding of 2006 and in recent years has shown that Somalia is the victim of deadly floods and the disease outbreaks that happen after floods, but the Jubba Valley in particular has many rivers that are tributaries of the mighty Jubba river. A large hydroelectric dam north of Luuq and smaller ones in the huge number of small tributaries throughout Gedo, with another larger dam north of Bardheere would provide enormous amounts of electricity and water for agriculture, and would allow more development in the far south as flooding would no longer be an issue.
A large Aswan-type dam should also be built north of Beledweyne to create a lake-Nasser type water reservoir, again creating hydroelectricity, preventing flooding downriver, and creating another vast water reservoir for agriculture.

If we say that labor is 1/10th the cost in Somalia as it would cost in say, Europe, to build a hydroelectric dam, a large-scale hydroelectric dam could be built for about $100 million, which is still a ton of money for Somalia.
Maybe with oil exploration and when agriculture gets going again in Somalia.

Just dont employ foreign farmers or workers like in Zimbabwe and KenyaI am working on it, I will be the create an agricultural multi billion dollar market.
Baby steps, Gedo's fertile land shall stay away from the illusion of the Green revolution. Minimal chemicals and soil preservation.
DDT was banned in the world in 1972 but in Somalia people still use it. I was really shocked to see people using it to to kill the ticks that pray on their livestock. We definitely need to launch a massive campaign against the use of these pesticides and at the same time we should be providing alternative safer methods to counter the ticks and other arachnids.I am working on it, I will be the create an agricultural multi billion dollar market.

It's mostly engineering and fluid dynamics. Building dams is a specialty of hydraulic engineers, though structural engineers and electrical engineers are necessary as well to build a good hydroelectric dam.James Dahl,
What are the main skills to build a dam?
1. Civil Engineering?
2. Environmental Science?
