As fierce battle between government forces backed by Ahlu Sunna Waljama' fighters and Al shabaab movement; Ahlu Sunna on Thursday claimed victory over fighting that erupted in Mogadishu's Hodan district last night.
Omar Mo'allim Nur, Ahlu Sunna Waljama' commander for Banadir region said they killed a number of al shabaab fighters in overnight battle. He didn't specify the number of slain fighters. Nur noted that Al shabaab fighters launched attacks on their military bases in the capital city, adding the repulsed and inflict them uncountable severe loses.
Locals said that heavy gun battle and artillery shell could be heard from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.
Some bombardments, which the two sides were exchanging hit very far away from war-zones, according to the residents.
There had been no independent sources from Ahlu Sunna statement.
No immediate comments about the fighting were found from al shabaab so far.
