Al shabab in Somalia remove annoying checkpoints

Checkpoints which the destroyed group of Hisbul-Islam militias used to control, have been removed today on Wednesday 22nd December by Shabab forces, reports said.



Most of these checkpoints laid on the road that links Mogadishu to Afgoe and there were controlled by Hisbul-Islam militias who used to collect money from the trucks, a mini-bus driver said.



Hisbul-Islam militias used allege that collected money would be rebuilt the rough road that PL cars use, but there were no way repaired until now, reports said.



All road blocks were removed and Hisbul-Islam militias at those checkpoints have been replaced to Shabab forces where previous militias used to be and no money is taken from buses today, a driver said.



There were three checkpoints in the between Mogadishu and Afgoe road and the charges collected from the truck were 60 Thousand Sh. Som.



PL drivers and their owners welcomed the move that militias removed all checkpoints and this action comes Hisbul-Islam militias in Afgoe district lay down their weapons to Shabab yesterday afternoon.

Check points should be reestablished by the government to collect money to repair the roads.

Why particularly "repair the roads"? Is it the most important out of other pressing issues? As usual, you don't reason well.

What's the link between removing checkpoint and beheading somebody? Things like that happen in that order?

Why particularly "repair the roads"? Is it the most important out of other pressing issues? As usual, you don't reason well.

Infrastructure is a very important issue. And if you show people instant improvements with the money they're paying (such as better, safer roads) they'll be more willing to pay taxes for other things.
