Fighting takes place central Somalia (Hiiraan region)

Heavy fighting between Islamist militias of Al-shabab and forces of Somalis Transitional Federal Government has occurred in Beled-weyne of Hiiraan region, central Somalia last night, militant said on Sunday morning.



The battle occurred in the strategic town of Beled-weyn, in particular the way that links southern regions to the northern regions of Somalia.



There are no casualties reported yet from the fighting between Shabab forces and government forces in Hiiran region that has taken place, but spokesman of Shabab for military affairs claimed victory over the battle they had with government troops at El-gal area in Beled-weyne district last night.



The spokesman of Al-shabab, Sheikh A/asis said that they have captured weapons from government troops adding that they chased the government troops with their ally Ethiopians.



There is no word from government side yet about the war which Al-shabab claims victory, but early government forces in Hiran region threatened that they would remove Shabab militias from that region.
