I can understand to a cetain extent where he is coming from with his statement; particularly in the context of the western countries, though my perspective differs:
The education system is a tool of control, conformance and social engeneering and is clearly open to abuse.
Socialisation is the shaping of a persons norms, values, beliefs and behaviours. A person is born as a baby, as somewhat of a 'blank canvas' that society shapes and mould into a person through socialisation. There are two types of socialisation; primary and secondary socialisation. Primary socialisation takes place when a child is very young. It is done by his parents, family and other people who may be around as he grows up. This is where a child is taught wrong from right, where the most basic human instincts and concpets are instilled in this child. As muslim people this is where me make Islam inherent to the thaught and behaviour of our children.
Secondary socialisation takes place after primary socialisation. When a child is old enough for school, he will obviously learn new things from going to school and mixing with non muslim people who have a completeky different set of norms and values. When one factors in things like sex-education, the teaching of evolution theory and other such things that go completely against the teachings of islam, it might be easier to understand the title of this post.
To know that certain people, with certain beliefs and agendas are in charge at schools and create the curriculum raises some concern about what our children are taught in the west.
