How much is this in line with your views, do you believe this is too liberal, too conservative, or close to what you believe.

Asalaamu 'alaykum warahma,

This is pretty much in line with my views, and I don't find it to be too liberal. I think this works within the framework of traditional Islam, an Islam that existed since the early generations! Since Aisha (ra) was teaching these MEN, what Islam is about. :)

Liberal for me would be:

. Hijab is not a must

. You may marry a non-muslim

. It is okay to be lesbian

. It is okay to be sleeping with a man that isn't your husband

. Acts of worship are overlooked

and etc.

What if a Hijabi tells you "I've become a bit more liberal"

Lol, but what is liberal but that? :|

I've seen people who believe in one or more of the points I stated and they call themselves 'Liberal Muslims.' Do you know they call Irshad Manji a liberal muslim, who is openly lesbian.

What if a Hijabi tells you "I've become a bit more liberal"
I'd be worried, as far as I know if you wear the hijab, and believe in the fundamentals of Islam, then you are not a liberal! You are following traditional Islam.

That Egyptian journalist named Mona whatever... she writes for Huffington Post and other stuff came to my Uni and kept talking about "Liberal Islam" for an hour and a half... but the whole point of her appearance was to talk about being an Arab-American Journalist. But she had that annoying British accent.

Confused woman

British accent is xaax, i dunno what FAH is talking about

As far as I know if u say something that is out of the realm of Islam to be ok, it leads to kufr. U can't say its ok to be gay, its ok to commit adultry, etc.

His appeasing the amerians duh

The guy got older, and with age people become less zealous and more mature. He never renounced his views that America is doing all kinds of evil actions, he never agreed to any of the wars, and he definitely doesn't work with any government. So don't tarnish the guys name.

The problem with many scholars today, is their own words become their judge. This sheikh is metamorphed into an extreme suufi after the 9/11 incident. You can watch some of his lectures, before he became "Bushe's aide".
