One Kenyan police raping and harassing Somali women

Postby Coeus » Mon Jan 10, 2011 11:37 am

Kenyan police forces on Monday accused Kenyan police of committing inhumane action against Somali refugees in Kenya.

Abdulkadir Ali Mohammed (Kulub), a Somali MP, who spoke to Shabelle Media Network, said that Kenya police constantly inflict numerous problems on Somali people in Kenya refugee camps including arbitrary arrests and raping Somalia's vulnerable women.

The Somali MP who identified him self as acting parliament's committee commissioner for refugees and Diasporas, pointed out that Somalis in Kenya's refugees Ifo and Dhagahley are not allowed by Kenyan police to come out.

Mohammed called Kenyan authorities to respect the rights of Somali refugees in their country and stop the police from torturing Somalis in Ifo and Dhagahley refugee camps.

No comments were immediately available from Kenyan government so far.
