How is seeking knowledge ever a waste? Al Maghrib courses might not make you a scholar or even give you good depth into Islam, but it teaches you about Islam FULL STOP, and even a single sentence is better then nothing. If your maclin dugsi is good then Alhamdulilah, but Al Maghrib courses are suitable for a lot of Muslims living in the West.

Your words just shows what the Shaykh was saying some people go to extremes to learn about Islam, others sit behind a computer calling it a 'waste.'
