Somalia: Somali legislators’ inquiry different government

Postby Coeus » Mon Jan 17, 2011 12:02 pm

The Somali parliamentarians have on Monday called the Ministers of different Somali government institutions and the commanders of the Somali military and Police to know, what kind of tangible activities they are committed on.

The institutions which are to face the Somali parliamentarians at the Somali parliament are the Ministers of the Ministries of Defense, Internal Affairs and national security, and as par the armed forces the commanders of the Military and police are also wanted to appear before the Somali parliamentarians to clearly state their activities.

Despite the call from the Somali parliamentarians to these Somali government institutions, there are some of them who are not present in the country and out to some other countries for duties.

“It is something common in all the other parliaments across the world to call any government institution to more about its activities, and this is always a merit but demerit to the government” said Hassan Abdi a Somali parliamentarians who spoke to Somaliweyn website just before the inquires started.

In the beginning of this month the Somali parliamentarians have called the Somali Prime Minister to appear before them for clarifications of certain foreign companies which have signed documents with them showing that they can fully operate in the country.
