Ethiopia: Forces Arrest Somali Journalist

Postby Coeus » Mon Jan 24, 2011 11:37 am

e Ethiopian military forces on Sunday apprehended a Somali journalist in the mainly Somali ethnic region in eastern Ethiopia.

The journalist, Abdullahi Qalif Nur, who was working with Radio Abudwaq in Galgudu region in central Somalia, is reported to have been seized while he was on bus bound to Goldogob district in the semi-autonomous state of Puntland.

The Ethiopian military captured the Somali journalist in the village of Dhudub in eastern Ethiopia, reports said.

A witness in the village conformed Shabelle that the journalist was ordered by Ethiopians to climb-down from the bus he was on board, adding that they had taken him far inside Ethiopia.

It is still unknown the reason behind his arrest.

No word about the arrest was immediately available from Ethiopian military forces so far.
