Amman, Feb 1 (DPA) Jordan's King Abdullah Tuesday accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Samir Rifai's government and asked ex-premier Marouf Bakhit to form a new government, according to a royal court statement.

Rifai's government was only formed after parliamentary elections in November.

However, demonstrations have swept Jordan on the past three Fridays calling for the resignation of the government, complaining of its failure to carry out necessary political and economic reforms.

The collapse of the government comes as both Egypt and Tunisia experience serious civil unrest against their governments.

Abdullah does not have iron grip like most mid eastern personalities but good for him Jordanians don't want to overthrow him. They just want Jordan to become a constitutional monarchy and have the prime minister chosen by the people and not him.

Well ppl respect the Kingdom family who are the Binu Hashim tribe, because they claim direct descent from Prophet Muhammed they enjoyed tremendous respect, but they are corrupt and they were infaltirated and need to go to.

I guess it is how you treat your people. I was listening to the Muslim Brotherhood representative in Jordan who lead the protests talk to Fox News and he was like "we don't want overthrow of our good leader from the Shariffs...he is a good leader with noble blood, but we want to have say over the government". In that case you can hardly compare him to Ben Ali and Mubarak. Most likely after Egypt, Syria baa belaayo ka dhici. For some odd reason, the monarchies are really stable politically

Actually I think the Khaleej Countires will be the absolute last Countries to revolt for a multitude of reasons. First, personality wise Gulf Arabs have a very passive, weak personality. Decades of Oil money and wealth made them soft. With North Africans and Leavant Arabs they are a lot more feisty due to their economic conditions. Secondly, when You consider that these Guys are not facing any hardship, do not have high unemployment, receive income/stipends from the Gov, get free education, Homes, etc. why the heck would they revolt to begin with? They see all the foreiners flock to their lands looking for a better life, and they know how good they have it. Also do not discount the Enviromental conditions. I mean a protest in the Gulf, You better make sure the protest is sponsered by Gatorate/Powerade because ain't nobody gonna protest there for more than one hour without collapsing from dehydration. The Saudi King Abdalla once told His people that We are a not a Nation like Somalia that can survive without a Government. If we have a rebellion and our state collapses, the first thing to cut off will be the water, and we will all die of thirst



Btw one thing I noticed about the Gulf is that from a young age they are taught that the Ruler of the Country has to be obeyed, and that anybody who is against the Gov is a terrorist, and respecting the law, etc. I remember my little cousin he was 11 born and raised in Riyadh he was telling Me that there were some terrorists here not too long ago. I asked him if they were terrorists he was like yea, they were fighting against the Government



All in all though if I am to be a unbiased observers, Gulf Arabs do a good job of spreading around the wealth amongst their citizens than other Governments. Still though that probably isn't out of generosity, its just that A, there is so much wealth to go around, and B their populations are so small. With Countries like Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Yemen keeping their citizens happy is a very difficult challenge.

no one wants to sit down with no job, just some one giving you 50 000 riyaals for marriage gift and put you in waiting list to get housing!!!

and every time amiir comes out says: 500 riyals every citizen gift for every citizen, kids and adults!!!

people past that, they want to share decision making. so these ameers will make some changes to make people happy.

Hadaan runta sheego, I've never been to other khaleej countries but the impression I got when I was in Saudi is that khaleejis are extremely lazy, even their youth. They really would rather not work. As long as they have enough money for a car, and be able to go to the mataacim, then internet cafe with enough money for shah/pepsi, go on the Internet for 7 hours, come back home, sleep then he's good. They're not muthaqifeen like Egyptians who the average youth will have a masters degree, they're happy with very little from what I've seen and do not like to study or work. Even some of the Somalis who grow up there and adopt their culture I noticed become very lazy. Btw, also You're right these people are so badow that they will just go crazy, looting, raping, robbing, etc. if theres no 'shurtah'


Is Qatar any different from what I described?

brother, closest society to qatar is kuwait(which is little more liberal than qatar). aside from stereotype, people go to university and want to better themselves.

they travel to the west and see how others live. aside from lower class who are happy with little money, upper educated people want to share power and want jobs for youth and get rid of ajnabis who work here.


they say train our people and put them to work instead giving them free money. bahrain is not as rich as qatar and kuwait, their people work in every thing to make living. why not qatar or kuwait?

i guess it's about time, people finally noticing this. and most important the ameers will think twice about their policy.
