Galmudug & Puntland plus Galkacyo discuss

Postby PUNTMAN » Fri Feb 04, 2011 9:27 am

puntland has and always will strongly support peace and stability on the south of the border, it was because of puntland that galmudug was even established let alone running. Puntland had always favoured the other regions within somalia to function and to have their own administration, like puntland. This was so that they could build a stability that will benefit all of somalia.

hence the term " ku daayo puntland" and this is exactly what happen dozens of mini states started uprising in the south, trying to become a bundle of hope in what is choas in most of the south. Nevertheless although galmudug is still young, and just about functioning. one can only wonder as to where is the capital of Galmudug. everyone knows somaliland capital is hargeisa, and puntlands capital is garoowe. But Galmudug's capital is where?, Galkacyo, hang on doesnt galkacyo belong to puntland something like 80% of the town or more, controlled by the puntland administration. anyhow no matter who it belongs to, or who is majority this brings into perspective that if galmudug was to become a feasible and accomplished state, why would they name their capital city galkacyo, a place shared with puntland, not just anyone, its long arch rival. which not to mention every now and then theres tribal tension, morters fired either side for no reason, social, economic, and political problems between both sides who decide not to share anything, even though the market is in the middle of town and ladies selling milk and meat fight. also one person from north cant cross to south, or vise versa, otherwise they would be killed. sounds familiar like east jerusalem.

To conclude even if Galmudug owned half of Galkacyo, its still preety stupid idea to have a capital that is shared by another administration with army and police all around you, for goodness sakes even the airport is fully controlled by puntland despite anything else. Capital cities of any state or country, should be save and secure, and 100% in control by the admin, and should forsee and deter any attack by invaders. just like tel aviv is capital of isreal and not jerusalem. so say galmudug is succesful lke puntland in 10 years time. and they establish to build south galkacyo into proper and stable place fully govered, with government buildings, ministeries, parliament, and other institutions and all top officials based there. what if there was war with puntland, all that would be destroyed Galmudug capital in the south of the city, will be in tatters, if northern galkacyo gets destroyed it wont matter as much, because its not puntlands capital, with all its glory, thats safe and secure in the middle of puntland, where no one can get to it. ever wondered why bosaso isnt the capital, the most famous and succesful city in puntland isnt the capital, because its in the coast and could be attacked, thinking ahead. and why even puntland didnt make Galkacyo their capital. places like galkacyo is trouble dont put all your gold there.

Now to summerise my point for your own advantage Galmudug people, think twice and change your capital from a shared city, into one you fully own. like hobyo for instance, etc.

We need to leave that desert called Galkacyo alone. Hobyo- the new capital of Galmudug state.

1. You say Gaalkaio is shared
2. You say Bossasso is bad location for capital because it can be attacked
3. You suggest Galmudug to relocate capital to Hobyo

Excuse you but i was under the impression you wanted all somalis to live together in peace?

For your info:

- Moqadishu is a shared capital
- Adis Ababa has more somali people then the population of Gerowe
- Hargeisa has more non-isaaq then the population of Gerowe

Can't people differentiate between political ideology and personal clan sentiments?

Seriously there are people who cannot seperate the two and you and many who speak like you are a plague to all somalis. You errode the fabric of peace from the foundation by injecting clan sentiments into your political strategy. Why can't you respect the peace creation efforts in Galmudug and encourage this statelet and why can't some of your clan live under the admin of another clan? Is this a sin?

Do not isolate yourself.

Cirwaaq is right.

But Pauntland needs Galkacayo also. Without galkacayo, Puntland would be just Boosaaso (a city) + Garowe (a town) and some villages in between.

I think the administration would have made the capital Hobyo already, but that the pirates there have more local power than the Galmudug administration. At least that's how things seem, maybe I'm wrong.
Caalin was a local administrator in Hobyo so he has more reason than most to move the capital there if he could.

Heres a simple enough explanation, Newcastle is a city in england which borders Scotland. Scotland is part of Britain, but has its own admin like a gov. Isnt it weird if Newcastle was the capital of Scotland, despite it been in England. get it.

Cirwaaq perhaps you could be a role model, for what is not there and whats impossible. am not qabilist, am just talking about the reality in somalia. I admire the efforts and the peace that Galmudug has achieved and welcome it by all means, because it benefits me and everyone not just Galmudug.

Mogadisho was the capital of somalia, when somalia was one, a place where everybody shared and lived, we'r in a different era now, one that no one knows the outcome of. did you ever consider there might never be a somaliweyn. and these self proclaimed states will rule, until or if there is a proper government, that could be eternity, or by that time perhaps its too late.

Ofcourse Galkacyo can be shared, and is already shared and everyone lives there, and despite some problems its doing fine. However the point am trying to make is, Puntland is a mamul gobaled, so is Galmudug. how could two admins share a city which one claims as capital. am just warning people, thats trouble to come.

Any new administration which brings peace is welcome, so long as it doesn't cause confrontations and land wars again. So cirwaq totally of point you are mate. the somalia you want isnt there. we gotta make do with what we can. and a prosperous Galmudug, is one with its own capital.

Both Puntland and Galmudug are recent political constructs not historical states so can we then assume there is margin for negotiation?

Unless you are proposing a WALL splits the city into North and south?

What will happen to to mixed-clan residents?

What is the likelyhood your admin would simply accept part of your population to live under the Galmudug admin?

There could be a Wall, but would it work?

how you mean by mixed clan. somalis clan is set by your father, if you mean someone is half and half of both these clans, they will reside with who ever they want or ofcourse in most cases their fathers side. thats not an issue, and never been one.

Puntland has and always accepted the galmudug population in Galkacyo, Perhaps the concern isn't that Galmudug will be the admin of south Galkacyo, but that it wants to make it the capital. Its good idea if they govern south galkacyo thats the only way to bring peace and stop all the crime there.

Another thing to consider is Galmudug neighbourhood is preety small in Galkacyo so to claim that as capital is also another worry, a place where your minority.
