إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ
Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from clay:
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ
"When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."
فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:
إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Not so Iblis: he was haughty, and became one of those who reject Faith.
قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ
Allah) said: "O Iblis! What prevents thee from prostrating thyself to one whom I have created with my hands? Art thou haughty? Or art thou one of the high (and mighty) ones?"
قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ
(Iblis) said: "I am better than he: thou created me from fire, and him thou created from clay."
قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
(Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here: for thou art rejected, accursed.
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
"And My curse shall be on thee till the Day of Judgment."
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ
(Allah) said: "Respite then is granted thee-
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ
"Till the Day of the Time Appointed."
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
(Iblis) said: "Then, by Thy power, I will put them all in the wrong,-
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
"Except Thy Servants amongst them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."
قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ
(Allah) said: "Then it is just and fitting- and I say what is just and fitting-
لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
"That I will certainly fill Hell with thee and those that follow thee,- everyone."

Source: Tafsir of Ibn Kathirفَسَجَدُواْ إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ كَانَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ
(So they prostrated themselves except Iblis. He was one of the Jinn;) meaning, his original nature betrayed him. He had been created from smokeless fire, whereas the angels had been created from light, as is stated in Sahih Muslim where it is reported that `A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said that the Messenger of Allah said:
«خُلِقَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ نُورٍ، وَخُلِقَ إِبْلِيسُ مِنْ مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ، وَخُلِقَ آدَمُ مِمَّا وُصِفَ لَكُم»
(The angels were created from light, Iblis was created from smokeless fire, and Adam was created from that which has been described to you.) When matters are crucial, every vessel leaks that which it contains and is betrayed by its true nature. Iblis used to do what the angels did and resembled them in their devotion and worship, so he was included when they were addressed, but he disobeyed and went against what he was told to do. So Allah points out here that he was one of the Jinn, i.e., he was created from fire.
أَنَاْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ
(I am better than he. You created me from fire, and You created him from clay.)﴿38:76﴾ Al-Hasan Al-Basri said, "Iblis was not one of the angels, not even for a second. He was the origin of the Jinn just as Adam, upon him be peace, was the origin of mankind.'
- Any Jinn who becomes a disbeliever is called a Shaytan
- In Muslim literature, some have classified Jinns into different ranks of: Jinn, Ifrit, Marid, Shaytan.
- Jinns have both muslims and non-muslims.
- The word Jinn means hidden from the sight!!!
