These ayahs are from surah Al Sad, Allah swt said:


إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ
Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from clay:


فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ
"When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."


فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:


إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Not so Iblis: he was haughty, and became one of those who reject Faith.


قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ
Allah) said: "O Iblis! What prevents thee from prostrating thyself to one whom I have created with my hands? Art thou haughty? Or art thou one of the high (and mighty) ones?"


قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ
(Iblis) said: "I am better than he: thou created me from fire, and him thou created from clay."


قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
(Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here: for thou art rejected, accursed.


وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
"And My curse shall be on thee till the Day of Judgment."


قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."


قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ
(Allah) said: "Respite then is granted thee-


إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ
"Till the Day of the Time Appointed."

قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
(Iblis) said: "Then, by Thy power, I will put them all in the wrong,-

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
"Except Thy Servants amongst them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."

قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ
(Allah) said: "Then it is just and fitting- and I say what is just and fitting-

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
"That I will certainly fill Hell with thee and those that follow thee,- everyone."

Iblis:

فَسَجَدُواْ إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ كَانَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ

(So they prostrated themselves except Iblis. He was one of the Jinn;) meaning, his original nature betrayed him. He had been created from smokeless fire, whereas the angels had been created from light, as is stated in Sahih Muslim where it is reported that `A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said that the Messenger of Allah said:

«خُلِقَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ نُورٍ، وَخُلِقَ إِبْلِيسُ مِنْ مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ، وَخُلِقَ آدَمُ مِمَّا وُصِفَ لَكُم»

(The angels were created from light, Iblis was created from smokeless fire, and Adam was created from that which has been described to you.) When matters are crucial, every vessel leaks that which it contains and is betrayed by its true nature. Iblis used to do what the angels did and resembled them in their devotion and worship, so he was included when they were addressed, but he disobeyed and went against what he was told to do. So Allah points out here that he was one of the Jinn, i.e., he was created from fire.


أَنَاْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ
(I am better than he. You created me from fire, and You created him from clay.)﴿38:76﴾ Al-Hasan Al-Basri said, "Iblis was not one of the angels, not even for a second. He was the origin of the Jinn just as Adam, upon him be peace, was the origin of mankind.'

- Any Jinn who becomes a disbeliever is called a Shaytan
- In Muslim literature, some have classified Jinns into different ranks of: Jinn, Ifrit, Marid, Shaytan.
- Jinns have both muslims and non-muslims.
- The word Jinn means hidden from the sight!!!

Just to go slightly of topic, this was one of the example used by a brother to show why homosexuality is an abomination. In other words its nothing more than devil worshiping. Since the devil was given free rein on earth what better way to undermine creation but to strike at the heart of procreation.

Turns out he is one Jinn, that makes me kinda uncomfortable. I've never thought of Satan much but I guess it is an obvious thought.

Adam was alone in the beginning and God created for him, his wife so that the human race could start and spread. Iblis is one person but being from Jinns, he may have his progeny. At which stage, Allah created his pair, is not known to us, as most other things about them are also unknown. We know that Iblis was the most learned and respectable of all Jinns before being expelled from the proximity of Allah. It does not necessarily mean that he was the lone person of his race when his expulsion came about. In one of the verses, where his non-compliance is described, it is at the same time stated that he was from among (the race of Jinn), which indicates that there may have been others of his race at that time also, though not necessarily in high heavens. The relevant verse is: “...they bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns and he broke the Command of his Lord.” (18:50)

When it comes to the diin, it's best you seek it for yourself for every step you take, Allah rewards you for it. Even when you read the Quran, let say a word that consists of 3 letters, you will be remarded reading each letter of it 10 hasana, imagine 30 hasanat for a word, isn't Allah merciful.


As for my understanding of these ayahs where Allah swt said:

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
(Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here: for thou art rejected, accursed.


وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
"And My curse shall be on thee till the Day of Judgment."


قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

I am solely depending on my understanding of the arabic language, so it seems Iblis has a very long life and will die the day the trumpet is blown! And Allah knows best.


وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۖ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَىٰ فَإِذَا هُمْ قِيَامٌ يَنظُرُونَ

The Trumpet will (just) be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on earth will swoon, except such as it will please Allah (to exempt). Then will a second one be sounded, when, behold, they will be standing and looking on!

Yes, Jinns are of two kinds: the good one and the bad one. Now, the bad one, seems has a hierarchical system, the more you are bad, the more you will be promoted to get the shaydan title, accudi bilaah.
