Nice flag but there is no actual adminstration on the ground to go with it. We may as well add the flag for Muufo iyo Moxog, the new Abgaal regional state.

Dooxada Jubba has existed as a distinctive region of Somalia for more than a houndred years, Somalis refered to it as Jubboyinka for even a longer. the British came and recognized the region as Jubaland, during the period of Italian colonialism, the region was known as Oltre Giuba.

Is it with one b or two b's? I've always seen it spellt with two B's. :?

Btw, Southern Sudan's new "capital" is called Juba, too. In somaliya I figured its due to the Jubba river, but what's in the name & any relation?

Prolly just the stupid British running out of names again, ie adding New to " York", "jersey", "Hampshire" etc. making Somali Juba, the Sudanese Juba

^^its spelled both ways, in english it is with just one "b" as in Jubaland, whereas in Somali it is with two "b" as in Dooxada Jubba ama Jubboyinka.

the Somali name Jubba is well known and has been used for many houndred years by Somalis, but as far as records show, the explore named Jesuit Jerónimo Lobo traveled to a land called Jubba in 1624(todays South West Somalia), the british came several centuries later and simply translated the original name Jubba known by the inhabitants into Juba whiles the Italians later translated it to Giuba.

Juba(todays Southern Sudan's capital) was established not long ago in 19th century by foreigners, the British gave them the name  but the two regions are miles apart and do not share any history other than the connection of the names "Dooxada Jubba" of Somalia and the capital of Southern Sudan "Juba".

by the way this is the capital of Southern sudan

I think many people don't even know that Jubba was not even part of the original Italian-somaliland, it was part of British East-Africa and was the 3rd ZONE of KENYA+NFD+JUBA.

Tanganika was some where in there too at some point.

amethyst i will try to get you that link inshalalh.

Cirwaaq, your correct, the British held claim over the region by paper, but the British on the ground were losing incredible number of indian subjects and alot of their own english soldiers as they faced constant attack and powerful reaction coming from Jubaland. very quickly they learned to fear Jubaland, and attempted to stop further provocating the people of Jubaland by discontinuing their claim over the region. this ended Jubaland's campaign against the British, but the real winner was the British as they end up not losing the rest of their protectorate including Kenya and Uganda, ultiamately this is why they called the buffer region between their protectorate and Jubaland by the name "North Frontier District".

the inexperienced italians were then given the region, again this is only by paper, they had more of a friend attitude towards most of Somalia and as their only colony formed more of an alliance rather than a colony. the Italians did very little in Jubaland though, mostly settling in Kismaayo bringing some of their subjects from other colonies around the region so to boost farming in Jamaame and other places.

this is the map of the British colony, which includes most of Dooxada Jubba (Jubaland), you can see the Historic city of Luuq & Baardheere and Ceelwaaq, Afmadow are on that map, and also the coastal town of Kismaayo. many of todays towns such as the Dajuuma camp, even the second largest town of todays Jubaland Beledxaawo is not on the map.

this is the map
