26 March: A day to change Britain

Thousands will descend on London next Saturday–be there!
Saturday 26 March can be a day to change Britain. Hundreds of thousands of people will converge on London for a monster demonstration against the government.
The TUC’s march looks set to be the biggest protest in Britain since the huge demonstrations that swept the country against the war in Iraq.
From Penzance to Perth, trade unionists, anti-cuts activists, pensioners and students are filling up every available space on transport to London.
The TUC has given up trying to keep track of the numbers heading to the capital. Over 1,000 coaches and dozens of trains are booked—some with as many as 500 seats.
There is a week until the protest. Trade unionists, students, pensioners and every other activist must do everything they can to maximise the turnout.
A huge protest could give millions of people confidence to fight against every cut and for every job—and to bring down this rotten Tory government of the rich.

"It will be a bit of a disappointment if we get to the end of the day and one of London's great buildings is not occupied. We have to make an impact." said one veteran of last year's student protests

Weyman Bennett, joint secretary of UAF, said:
We have received a request from the TUC and many trade unions to support their demonstration on 26 March in central London against cuts to vital services. The TUC notes that mass unemployment has often aided racist and fascist organisations.
UAF in an act of solidarity is joining the demonstration against the scapegoating of migrants and against racism. We note that in Europe the growth of fascist groups has increased as some politicians have tried to divert attention away from unpopular policies by encouraging racist ideas.
Nicholas Sarkozy in France, Angela Merkel in Germany and now David Cameron have attacked multiculturalism. These people are not fascists. But their comments targeting the Muslim and Roma communities have helped racist and fascist organisations such as the Front National in France and the British National Party and English Defence League here to gain respectability – something we deeply deplore.
