Kilimanjaro restaurant is the schit wallahi. This guy from Minneapolis opened it and the restaurant has everything from Somali sea-food specialty to Ethiopian injera to Pizza and American fatty hamburgers to Indian Lamb Korma and Chicken Massala. Every food that most Somalis worldwide are familiar with is served and tastes even better

The Nomad seems to be its competitor just a few blocks away

Anyway I hope the City council invests in projects to improve sanitation roads and disposing the Garbage.

I saw a building that was repossed by a Bank after the owner was not able to payback Ksh 400 million loan he took back.

i was there last summer and, to tell you the truth, eastleigh was the worst place i have ever lived in my life in terms of environment. high rise and beautiful buildings don't count when you have streets flooded with sewage, no paved roads, garbage everywhere and the whole mini city smells like dead elephant. i spent most of my time indoors because every time i went outside i got sick due to the high level of dust and the smell of the garbage.

eastleigh is totally unlivable place and it is one of the most environmentally polluted neighborhood in Nairobi.

eastleigh is totally garbage!!!

voltage:I hear its one of the best, most expensive somali restaurants in Nariobi.I wonder why would the owner take such a successful business to africa, instead of Amrica where the profit margin is way higher
Barakaboy:its cuz the municiplality and the city dont do their job that Islii was f'ed up even though somali businesses were paying their taxes.but now after the new supreme court ruling and the deal the somali merchants struck with city they should resume those services

Dude there is no need to worry about health and safetly, employees rights and pension plans etc.

In US the somali busniesses undergo boom and burst.

Is the Safari restaurant in Mineapolis still functioning?

I dont know of any somali restaurant that gives pensions or benefits to its empolyees man,in fact they r all at will employees, and even though the operating cost here in the U.S are higher and so is the profit margin.I dont know about the safari restaurant in Mini though,Im from the NW and we got few competetive restaurants out here.

Eastleigh smells horrible when it rains and looks horrible whether it rains or not. Plus a lot of those buildings provide duplicate services. You can have 5 hotels within a stone's throw of one another. Pharmacies are littered all over the place and the shops practically sell the same clothes. It's a wonder anyone makes a profit.

The only people who've made real profit are the ones who built those buildings illegally and probably with dodgy foundations and sold them on.

That said Eastleigh is probably the busiest commercial centre in Nairobi even with all these problems.
