Coalition forces 'can not see Gaddafi's heavy weapons

Postby udun » Thu Mar 31, 2011 4:56 pm

Coalition patrols have been unable to detect heavy weaponry belonging to Muammar Gaddafi's army, French Defense Minister Gerard Longuet said on Thursday.

"Our reconnaissance planes no longer see any movement by Gaddafi's units, consisting of heavy weapons, tanks, ships and aircraft," Longuet said, adding that they may be at their bases or hidden elsewhere.

He also said that supplying arms to Libyan rebels was "not on the agenda" because such a move would not be "compatible" with the U.N. resolution on enforcing a no-fly zone over the North African state.

The UN Security Council resolution 1973, adopted on March 17, imposed a no-fly zone over Libya and authorized measures to protect civilians from Gaddafi's forces, but stopped short of authorizing ground operations in the North African country.

A total of 13 countries are carrying out a military operation against Libya in line with the resolution. On Sunday, NATO began taking command of the mission from the United States.

What, did Gaddafi obtained radar blinding western fighter jets? Or could it be maintaining the civil war in Libya for years to come?

Any how, if true, it is an interesting story.

Udun,
I dont understand you at all !! What are you getting out of supporting a mad EYY who has killed thousands of Libyans?
A man who hired mercenaries and paid them thousands of dollars a day in order to kill his own citizens, and who ordered Air Force planes to bomb the despaired, frustrated and unemployed people who hit the streets because they have nothing to lose? Not to mentioned that he has been in power for the past 40 yrs... who the F does he think he is horta
Personally Ithink the USA should pursue this mad EYY detain him, and not kill him right away and put him on trial for the cold blooded genocide he committed.

I hate Munaafiqnimada ..

NewHargeisaGirl,

You have been brainwashed by the 10PM CNN and the daily Fix News (aka Fox News) propoganda. There are no unemmployed people in Libya who are protesting in the streets. Libyans had the highest quality living stards in all of Africa and Muslim world before this savagery invasion was imposed on them. What you are dealing with is the seizure of the natural resources of a fellow Muslim State. That is what you are dealing with. Well, I don't know if that would make sense to you!

No, it doesnt make any sense to me why anyone with a healthy mind would wanna support a coldblooded dictator who killed thousands of innocent people... anywayz I am not going to engage an argument with you .. but do know that those Libyans from Benghazi are putting their lives on the line for the freedom you and I take for granted in America ! With that I shall say LET THE FREEOM RING !!!
