Now Somalia has a third major semi-autonomous region: Jubaland, or Azania, whose creation was celebrated yesterday

...

But momentum toward the creation of an official state picked up with a seven-day conference last week that culminated in the formalization of Jubaland/Azania. Now it remains to see how Jubaland will negotiate its relationships with the TFG, with Kenya, and with the rest of Africa.

I was just reading an article on it actually. According tot he article the population is estimated at 1.3m people. The "borders" are thought to be along the lines of what is shown in the map below. What will the capital city be ?

AZANIA/JUBBALAND

No matter what I am really optimistic that in the coming couple of years inshallah, there will be a Jubbaland (Insert whatever alternative name You wanna use here). Finally all the elders, diaspora, clans, etc. of the regions have it in their head even though they might have some divergent opinions on how to implement it. Even though we are 10 years behind schedule, Inshallah it will only be a matter of time

Also what is with the piece Ghandi was elected "Convener of the Jubbaland inititive" was he elected President or Convener?

china/kenya

This is Chinese project run by Kenyan government.
One of the WikiLeaks documents is a message dated Feb. 17, 2010, from the United States embassy in Nairobi to Washington, which says that the previous month the Kenyan government had received a shipment of arms and ammunition from the Chinese government "in support of the Government of Kenya's Jubaland initiative."

The next e-anzania state will be created by Ethiopia, followed by y-anzania by Yemen.
