Fox Ends Glenn Beck Show
]NEW YORK — Glenn Beck later this year will end his Fox News Channel talk show, which has sunk in the ratings and has suffered from an advertiser boycott.
Fox and Beck's company, Mercury Radio Arts, said Wednesday they will stay in business creating other projects for Fox television and digital, starting with some documentaries Beck is preparing.
Beck was a quick burn on Fox News Channel. Almost immediately after joining the network in January 2009, he doubled the ratings at his afternoon time slot. Fans found his conservative populism entertaining, while Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert described Beck's "crank up the crazy and rip off the knob" moments.
More than 400 Fox advertisers told the company they did not want their commercials on Beck's show. Beck's advertisers were dominated by financial services firms, many touting gold as an investment.

Meredith Vieira Leaving the Today show
TV Guide is reporting that Meredith Vieira is expected to leave her position as co-host of the 'Today' show when her contract is up later this year. She has been a co-host since 2006, when she replaced Katie Couric, Vieira, TV Guide's Stephen Batagglio reports, is tiring of the grinding, early-morning schedule for the show, and is concerned about her husband, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. He says that NBC is trying hard to get Vieira to stay. It would actually be the second contract renewal for Vieira; her previous contract was up last year, but she signed a one-year deal to extend it until at least September 2011.

Katie Couric Leaving CBS News
NEW YORK — Katie Couric's successor as "CBS Evening News" anchor faces an extraordinarily difficult job in lifting the network out of the ratings cellar.
Couric will be leaving her post after nearly five years, with her contract expiring on June 4, according to a network executive who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because Couric has not officially announced her plans. The 54-year-old anchor is expected to launch a syndicated talk show in 2012.
She took over a broadcast that had spent many years in third place behind NBC and ABC in the ratings, and leaves it in third place. The competitive danger for CBS is that the evening news becomes what the morning news has been for half a century: the third choice of viewers no matter what network chiefs try.
New CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager will choose Couric's successor, and will look both inside and outside the company. Many people at CBS News believe that Scott Pelley of "60 Minutes" is the lead contender.
