Mogadishu (RBC) Hundred displaced people in Somalia capital Mogadishu today staged demonstration against what they called WFP’s corruption acts on food aid.

Angry demonstrators marched the streets of government controlled area in Mogadishu waving flags and banners written anti WFP slogans.

“We are against WFP corruption. Down WFP. Down the bloody agency”, one young demonstrator was saying.

“I am mother of five children I live a displaced camp near Benadir hospital I have nothing to eat, my children are dying of famine”, said Asha Ahmed Gelle.

With out food.. With out water”, she added waving the flag of Somalia.

More of the demonstrators including women, children and elders later gathered in front of WFP compound in Mogadishu and called the WFP staff to withdraw from the country.

They also suggested the transitional federal government of Somalia to account for the aid agencies operating the country.

Meanwhile, RBC Radio reveals that there had been growing unbalanced and wide corruption in aid distribution in the country due lack of functioning legal system and full accountability in Somalia.

Somalia prime minister, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed last week ordered the UN agencies involving in Somalia to relocate to Mogadishu within 90 days. The prime minister also blamed international aid agencies to receive 500 million donations each year but they do not provide to the real beneficiaries.

“They receive millions of dollars from the world; they do nothing with it except their rent houses in Nairobi and chartered flights”, Somali prime minister said.
