The allure of going into business v.s stable job

Post by juzme123 »

Do the benefits of working for yourself and profiting from/running your own business outweigh the security of having a 9-5 job in which you are guaranteed $/£XXX amount for your work at an accountancy firm. There is also the risk of your business not being successful.

I'm not talking about a little shop or restaurant as Somalis have in the west. Nor am I talking about a business in the saturated markets of the West. I'm talking about big business, grown from the bottom up in fast-growing developing countries with virgin markets & plentiful resources.

Is it worth to take the risk or just go for a regular 9-5 job.

Somalis are supposedly entrepreneurial so let's see. Which would you choose.

High risk v.s. Low risk

High risk = High return

There's nothing like having your own business, I hope to start one back home inshallah. Although hard and risky, having a business gives you financial autonomy not to mention being self-employed and being able to dictate how many ours you work. A 9-5 office job is in no way "secure". Thay can fire you in a heart-beat without any real reason except something vague like "downsizing" etc. The most secure job is in Medicine but that is gruelling, intense and has long hours of work.
