an insight into Life of Mogadishu,

Postby mudugawi » Thu Apr 14, 2011 3:46 pm

Amazing what life in Mogadishu would be once there is peace and stability. This link is written by a Somali girl who went to Somalia in 2005.

The people of Mogadishu are naturally resilient and have mastered the art of making the best out of nothing. Even in today's Xamar with all the war and turmoil, the real estate is booming. A friend's dad recently sold a warehouse for 300,000 USD. The spirit of Mogadishu never dies and that's what gives us hope.

True. Although I believe the once who are causing the destruction and mayhem are a minority. The vast majority people of Somalia and Mogadishu, the ordinary poor citizens in Somalia who have suffered the most in the twenty years of the war, are hungry for peace and stability. The so-called aqoonyahan, qurbajoog, ganacsato, xawaalado, xildhibaano, siyaasin and culimo isku sheeg minorities are those who need to change their mentality and work for unity and common good.

Mogadishu doing well will probably take away from the rest of the country like it did before 1991. Many booming towns would probably become ghost towns within half a decade if Mogadishu was to become peaceful again. Last month my cousin who has been in Addis Ababa for more than a decade left Mogadishu for the first time for a business trip. He is returning to Addis Ababa at the end of this month but he will probably go back if the situation there either gets better or stays the same at the least. A peaceful and secure Mogadishu will have a negative impact on Mombasa, Nairobi, Kambala, and Addis Ababa as well.
