According to the mainsteam Somali Ulema and consensus reached among them, they are all in agreement that religiously speaking Al-Shabaab is correct in destrying these tombs which Somalis visit that is testamount to shirk; however, Ulema reject Al-Shabaab's timing at this time 'cause until you educate the people and fully control the country, these kinds of things should stay in the back burner. What mainstream Ulema is saying is these tomp demiolitions will give further ammunition to all of the countries and groups who are opposed to the Somali Islamists in Somalia and the formation of sharia law in Somalia.

Do you have evidence to back this up? I need this from other Scholars too, I can't read Somali very well. As you know grave worshipping happens in many muslim countries, and I don't see any scholars calling for individual graves to be moved. And this is a slippery-slope, who is next the Companion (ra) Prophet Muhammed pbuh? Authobillah. You do realise that people do go to his grave and ask him for stuff etc etc, what is the solution? Obviously education. This will not change anything, but location. Allah swt knows best.
