The fighting took place around Warshadaha road near the Ex-milk factory; both sides used light and heavy weapons during the fighting.
Ten people feared dead and many were injured, mostly combatants, according to medical sources in Mogadishu.
The TFG’s defense minister Abdihakim Hadji Fiqi said early today that TFG and AMISOM have defeated what he described as “Anti Somali Evil forces”.
The fighting today comes as an extension of the fierce battles that broke out recently between both warring sides. Yesterday Al-Shabaab put on display corpses of dead Ugandan peace keeper claiming that they’ve killed tens of peace keepers, a claim rejected by AMISOM’s spokes person who admitted losing only two soldiers.
There was intense fighting yesterday between AMISOM, TFG and Al-Shabaab in Hodan, Hawl-Wadaag districts of Mogadishu which caused serious casualties among both warring sides and the civilian population as well.
Al-Shabaab’s has announced they will intensify their fight against TFG and AMISOM following Bin Laden’s killing in Pakistan early this month.
