Haters should leave now, the clouds of Puntland's success is like a patch of despair above them and its starting to rain - the event looks so great it makes me envious I'm not there :)

Without the port and the highway Bosaso would be a barren desert. Without the two, most Puntlanders would be fighting in Kismayo today - credit should be given where it is due. Mohamed Siad Barre has done a tremendous favor for this region when he had the ability not to. He gave Puntlanders a lifeline and what you see today is built upon it.

^ This isn't about politics so don't bring that here.

Anyway, with or without the physical port, Bosaso would still be a major import/export center. The main port of Mogadishu was closed for the better part of 20 years, hell even to this day Ceel Macaan port, which really is just an open field on the beach, is Somalia's busiest "port." If a mysterious storm wiped out Bosaso's infrastructure today do you think its business community would just walk away? They'd just start over somewhere nearby and make it a hub in a few months time. The fact that you want to replace the peoples' ingenuity and garnered skills over a long period of time with a few bricks is ridiculous. Those bricks can be made up with ease by the brainpower and manpower of Bosaso's PEOPLE - the thing that really drives the place.

Services are far more important to business than a venue; just compare crappy Bosaso port to professional Berbera and Berbera still gets its ass kicked.

With or without Siad Barre [and the Italian money that built the port] Bosaso would be a commercial hub today in 2011 and I can guarantee that.

Below is Somalia's busiest port for the past 20 years, the ultimate proof against your silly theory:

monk, walahi bosaso (and Puntland as whole) would be nutin without the highway/port. This town is arguably the hottest place on earth and the only thing that brought people is accessibility (the highway) and the port. Punland has been functioning for a long time now and they still have to finish Bosaso Airport runway and tarmac let alone major projects. We can brag about stuff but the truth remains: Puntland is built on this port and highway. They are the lifeline - ask any1.

What puntlanders only need to do is to change their thaghut system based on kufr and opposition of islamic law.

Again, I ask why doesn't Berbera have the same luck as Bosaso? Same shitty weather, desert location, etc. At the end of the day, its the people and the people alone that make Bosaso. I already showed you that a few smart businessmen turned Ceel Macaan - an empty piece of beach with no nearby roads into Somalia's #1 port and an attractive destination for local clients and foreign clients. You know as well as I know that Somalis don't care about the quality of the venue, they only care about low prices and getting the job done. To think Bari millionaires would foolishly skip an opportunity just because there wasn't a polished port to send off ships is silly. People from that region sent dhows to India going back to the 1700s and beyond, I don't believe the lack of some metal and concrete water parking lot would hinder them at all.

MSB didn't do shit for Bari. On the contrary it was his mission to derail anything initiated by Mjs, and I am not going to go into the poisoning of the wells, targetted killings and other economic or political sabotage against MJs. How long was the building of the highway in the making? When was the higway first invisioned, and when was it completed? Just because aid money was finally disbursed to complete a project it the northeast is nothing to brag about nor assign undeserved accolades.

PS.

Good job on the trade show.
