One ought to remember; a politician's effectiveness is not measured by his educational or IQ level. Political efficiency is measured by whether or not they get the job done. Whether one agrees or disagrees with Sakiin, one ought to remind themselves that this is a man that has outlasted and outclassed almost every opponent that came his way. Credit should be given where it is due.

Im not sure what functionally illiterate really means, but Shariif Hassan is able to read and write
Illiteracy is divided into two groups, pure illiteracy and functional illiteracy. Pure literacy is you can't even read or write or recognize writing. Functional illiteracy can go up to "reading" but at a state with which you are inadequate for required skill enough to function daily living. My 7 year old little cousin can "read" Dr Seuss and he is even below "functional illiteracy".

When I was 7 I used to read Xidigta Oktoobar out loud and imitated the stentorian tones of Cawke delivering the news. Much to the amusements of all the adults in the family. I guess Voltage only mastered reading when he was in high school looooooooooooooooooool.

Shariif Xasan is the man. Lipstick Shariif and all his swindlers will be booted out.

And if Shariif Xasan is illiterate then your hero Maxamed Siyaad must be too.

Roving, my criteria is different. Your effectiveness at politics is judged when you are held accountable. What was Sharif Hassan before the ICU/Asmara and then ICU/Djibouti? Absolutely nothing. Him and both Sheikh Sharif rode on Western-backed wings to Mogadishu, not because of what they could do but what they represented as negotiating partners who were opposed to the same entity as Shabaab (namely Yusuf government) and to this day they occupy two different seats of the highest posts not of their own doing or triumph under accountability but because of that and if they were removed from those posts which they will be, they would go back to being nothing politically. They know nothing about politics and if you call the last two years as a sure sign of political ingenuity, give credit where it is do and extend it to Abdullahi Yusuf's 30 year self-run hunt for the top post which he got...and then lost one morning. At least that man showed self-made "effectiveness" and ran the TFG even more as a monarch then both of these guys combined.
And if Shariif Xasan is illiterate then your hero Maxamed Siyaad must be too.
Waan kaa xishoonayay but unlike these other people, I know you have hopes of your brother Jangeli, who sold his soul to the devil to become Sharif Hassan's poodle when he was ignored by the Farmaajo government, getting a good ministerial post and if it is not too high an ambition even Foreign Minister again.

Don't bring Siad, who came from being a young orphan shepard to being fluent and literate in multiple languages while rising to become the Commander of the Armed Forces and then president of the Republic for 21 years, into the mix. It won't get you brownie points on a topic about "illiteracy".

I am honoured if you put in the Jengeli pantheon but I know from the Grapevine that he is very close to Farmaajo. Try Again.

Kor baan kaala socda and lol @ close. Juriile and Jangeli were at one point considered the most competent ministers the TFG had seen (under Yusuf) but today--mere and the prime poodles of Sharif Hassan in their attempt to get back at the current executives for being left out of the "most competent" council of minister seen. This shows awal dan shaqsi baa waday, not dan guud of the nation.

Siyaad was poor orphan shepherd. Took few classes with british and italians and rose up in the world

Shariif Xasan was a poor raxanweyn farmhand, took few classes and parlayed that into wealth and high office.

I fail to see the difference.

I Suppose you are right:

As for "waxaan ku moodayay nin siyaasada Xamar u dhuun daloola"..falaari gilgilasha kaama harto. Sharif Hassan's papers are prepared, pro bono by Jangeli and Juriile. They have had their time as career politicians, you would think they would sit this one out instead of losing whatever respect they might have had. Well I guess after the recent events, they are not so sure of next year's election outcomes so who knows, they might get a change of heart before all the milk in the glass is spilt. ;)

He did well in his King's African Rifles Training course loooool. But I doubt that Shariif Sakiin would have expelled his best source of arms just because some Iris physician named Cahill whispered in his ear that America would rush in with Billions of Military and Economic aid. Not only was he badly educated but his intelligence never rose above Shrewdness.

Jengeli and Juriile and Faroole = Puntland heroes who will not rest until Shariif Lipstick and all his dirty brigade are out.

Poor guy. Faroole's single fight was to have the elections held this summer, this august so he could replace Sheikh Sharif. Faroole is the biggest loser in the whole mix because Sharif Hassan threw him under the bus by negotiating extension of the TFG to increase his own power. Now Sheikh Sharif got what he wanted, one more year as president. Sharif Hassan got what he wanted increased power for another year and Farmaajo has increased his political capital by becoming the the most loved Somali leader by worldwide Somalis in 20 years. What exactly did Faroole get? His unpopularity has increased with general Somalis, he now has no hope to become TFG president either with internal support or external recognition of any importance he has nationally, and now Farmaajo is by all accounts the front-runner to succeed Sheikh Sharif as president. What exactly did Faroole get? Even he realizes it because as soon as he stepped on Garowe soil, the man who was never shy about giving his opinion on the TFG, responded to every TFG question "it is between TFG political actors". Afka juuq gabay.

In all honesty Faroole is the biggest loser while Juriile and Jangeli are in their twilight zone. By dumping their cards in with Sharif Hassan, they have alienated everyone else especially the opposing camp who are in a position to continue holding the presidency after a year.

Wallahi riyaad ku jirtaa but if you don't have hope, what exactly do you have? Keep the hope alive.

Faroole cannot be the loser since he commands the biggest area of Somalia under the blue flag, most peaceful and prosperous portion of Somalia. It would be most galling then that some young social worker from Buffalo who is hiding behind Fufu-eating Ugandans would condescend to him, disenfranchise Puntland, run roughshod over their wishes and their legitimate political share under the 4.5 formula. The result was that Puntland exerted their considerable political clout and forestalled Armaajo and Lipstick's plans for unilateral extension of their mandate. Armaajo is gone and now Shariif Lipstick's homestead is burning. The next President of Somalia would be someone who can actually bring something to the table besides a sparse CV consisting of counselling Homeless african Americans and an 88 page thesis from a third rate university.
