Somalis and Oromos Used to be One

at one point, Somalis and Oromos used to be One. After many years of population sky rocketing and Scarcity of reasouces, They splitted. Those who Migrated towards the west ( what is Now ethiopia ) started having different dialect after many many years. Those that remained, in the east ( what is now somalia) also started having their own dialect. to proof my point, most of the Old somali towns' names are Oromo.

gaalkacyo, hargaysa, burco, liboye, luuq, gedo, mudug, hobyo, are all oromo names with no meaning to somali language.

it is reasonable to conclude that, Somalis and are oromo were the same people but splited due to economic scarcity. They share 60% similar culture, 60% language and 100% similar physical appearance.

Just because you do not understand the names of those places, does not make it Oromo or non Somali. You barely speak modern Somali as apposed old school Somali and you have the audacity to say otherwise. lmao.

These are the only two that seem to have somewhat meanings in Afaan Oromo, but they aren't Oromo cities.
We have no use in claiming land that we don't live in, if you'd like us to come populate these towns/cities sure why not, but that wouldn't make us rightful owners of these places. We don't look for grabbing every inch of the horn to be under Oromo rule, only what is rightfully ours which is biyya Oromoo in Ethiopia.

You could say Somalis were Ethiopians who converted to Islam during the Sahaba migration and than started moving East and South, what was called the Great Somali Expansion, taking out indigenous people who use to populate most of Somalia, some of these were Boran,Warday, Bantu and Tumaal tribes. some of those were considered to be Oromo such as the Warday and Borana, and that may be what you talking about. but most Somali cities names are very old and nobody knows there meaning unless someone does some research.

There are 3 type of Oromos:

#1 Original Oromos (Borana-Arsi and other East Oromos)
#2 Oromized Agews (Wellega, parts of Shewa and other Northwest Oromos)
#3 Oromized Nilotics/Omotics (Southwest Ethiopia)

Somalis are only related to group #1

Most of the names of our cities mean one thing or another in other languages, for example mogadishu is an actual persian name. I know quite a few, however that doesn't justify that we hail from another nationality.

Honestly I do not think Somalis and Oromos are related;
I being fortunate enough to know both people, I can say that the psychological make up of these two peoples is way too different.
Their traditional law way too different.
In my humble opinion any language or other ressemblance is due too long neighbourhood and
the long border we share(almost 1000 kilimeter).

As for oromo sounding place names that is a fact. Some part of current day somalia or somali inhabited areas in the horn were inhabited by oromo speakers for long time. Places like GarbaHarre, MataArbaa etc..were oromo inhabited areas.

Now a word on the much celebrated, the uncomparable and the uncompared jewel of south, I mean Gedo

When Oromos move to new areas they name it after their ancestral home names.
Thats why all over north Borana lands, specially in Tulama (from south Adaamaa , addis abeba upto nile), you see a lot of places called Gedo!
I think there is even a secondary school named Gedo in Salaale, (up northern Borana). I believe Gedo used to be part Borana lands!

Most Oromos are not real Oromo.

Only those in the East like Borana and Arsi are originally Oromo. All others are fake Oromo (mostly Agew-Amhara or Nilotic-Omotic tribes who became Oromo). Somalis are not related to the fake Oromos (they form a large portion of the modern-day Oromo).
