Drug testing for welfare, food stamp recipients?

Florida has a new requirement for people on welfare.

Beginning July first, anyone applying for welfare must undergo drug testing.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott told CNN that people who receive state benefits should be drug free.

“Our taxpayers are not interested in subsidizing drug addiction," Scott said. "It is no different than if you apply for a job they're not saying you use drugs, they're just saying in that work environment they don't want you to use drugs. In this case we do not want to subsidize drug addiction. We want to give everybody an increased incentive not to use drugs. It is better for our families and for the individual and it doesn't waste taxpayer money.”

Under the new law, welfare recipients must pay for their own drug screening.

If they pass, their money will be refunded. The American Civil Liberties Union may challenge the law.

Action 4 News checked with the Texas Legislature, there are no bills filed to drug test welfare or Food Stamp recipients in the Lone Star State.

But with the legislature headed into a emergency session for the budget, one could be introduced or filed if it relates to the budget.

BV, Here in the United States the mass public who are consuming food stamps neglect it considerably for the simple fact, a lot of them have jobs and get paid under the table, without the government knowing about it. I believe if you’re on Food stamps you shouldn't be capable of affording Jordans that cost nearly 200 dollars every other week, aside from that they're always smoking ganja and constantly got bottles that are costly. You know certain folks who don’t have a bowl to piss on are mainly the ones show casting their expensive antiques but can't seem to rid of the roaches and rats to make it look like they’re livelihood is under the poverty line. That’s a class act they so desperately display.

Here's the thing, they know majority of them smoke but they can't prove it. Hopefully they'll pat 'em down before sending them off to the bathroom, because if they don't, chances of those people passing the drug test is extremely high.
