Were you all born in the West? Damn!

I had my first internet experience back in Mogadishu, around 2000.

My first Internet experience was in 1998 I believe. There wasn't a lot to do for a young guy but I remember always going on Lycos and searching for lyrics to rap songs. I used to deliver newspapers just so I could buy two CDs a month and ask some family member to buy me another one, thus way I was always ahead of my friends when it came to music and they always usedto come to my house to see what I discovered next. I didn't live in a English speaking country which explains the lyrics. I really miss the dial up connection sound, can't believe I waited ages just to get online.

Napster was another thing, by the time this came out I had so many CDs and downloaded songs that I used to burn them and sell them to even school teachers, I went to a focked up school. With the profits I bought a scanner for my pc to print the actual album artwork, front cover and back with the tracklist. I was like a young Alex Sugar.

1995 i used to pay 5 dirhams to get access at the only public library in Abudhabi the Cultural foundation (arabs apparently dont read  )
I was shocked at the amount of Porn, damn.. the Local ISP started using a proxy filter 3 years later in 1998..

1998 was the first time i had a connection at home in australia, and it was an AOL account.

Who remembers AOL chat?

I used to use Lycos and Altavista and AskJeeves and i was always on yahoo.com
I signed up for Hotmail in 1998 as well and it was my address of choice.

I hardly use it now.. its Gmail all the way..

Arabs & porn waaba synonyms dee; maba kala haraane.

I remember back in Baghdad around late 2002 I used to go to an internet cafe inside Funduq Falastin and I used to visit a German site (had tons of topless models and stuff) and this Iraqi guy at the place was telling me how it's not allowed to visit such sites and stuff and I caught the bastard watching photos from the same site after a little while.
