Ask him if they realise that Al shababs mayor position today in Somalia is because of their support of an ethiopian invasion?

Then ask him why does HE think Somalis are joining al shabab.

The answer on both of them will probably be vague. But hey im just a guy living in scandinavia.

Why do people get so surprised when a Somali youth from the diaspora goes to join a political group in Somalia, albeit a millitant one. It's not anymore surprising than a Eeuropean Jew joining the Israeli army. People have biologicalal, religious, emotional links to their countries of origin and Somalis are more connected to their homeland than many other Diaspora groups. Most of these people went to Somalia during the height of the Ethiopian occupation.
