Man City confirm NEC move for Abdi Ibrahim

Manchester City have confirmed Abdi Ibrahim's loan move to NEC Nijmegen.

The Norway U21 international midfielder joins NEC on a season-long deal.

The Somali-born Academy graduate is no stranger to moving out on loan, having spent time at Scunthorpe United last season and can look forward to the promise of more first team opportunities during his time in the Netherlands.

He was on the bench almost the entire time he was at Scunthrope. This bro will probably never make it back to the premier league.

Why isn’t there any Somali players in the EPL who any other major European league? There is a substantial Somali population and many males thoroughly enjoy Football. What is holding them back? I mean, it’s time for the second generation kids to step up,

There hasn’t been one decent player

give it time you see some ballers soon
dont compare somali kids to white ones where their dads follow their progress in football always at team games speaking to the coach and what not

biggest reasons holding them down is lack of family support and peer pressure

how many times you hear in a somali household a kid say " Hoyoo i wana be football star" with his mom replying " Nacaladi ku kortaay buuga ka so baax dhaktaar baad noqoon doonta" on a constant basis

inankii baa niyadii ka jabiyaa

Very true  Its the same with Indian & Pakistani kids. There been in Britain for generations and I have yet to see 1 of them make it to Premier League. But I know cricket is their #1 sport, but still..

I feel for this kid Ibrahim. if he was born in 1986 rather than 1991, he might have made it at Man City. Now they spend billions of stars.

But Ibrahim will make a good living in football and by the time he's 28-29 he'll never have to work again. I just hope we dont see him with an Cadaan love on his arms

^

Whatever he does I hope he dont start dating Cadaan dhiloyin. Just cos he's made it to pro level dont mean he has to disregard his Somali girls [or any black African for that matter].

His brother plays for FCUM I think.

Last I remember Ayub Daud was still on loan at some second level (Serie B) club in Italy. Like Abdisalam he will probably never make it back to Juventus. When you are young and you are not a clear cut superstar it is better to go to a small club so you can get first team playing time.

Your right. As much as it sucks for the 2nd generation, their job is not to plays sports where the chances of them making it professionally is pretty low. Doctors, Engineers, lawyers, etc. Anything that pays good and elevates the community is needed from us for the next couple of decades.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN ''NEED MORE DOCTORS THAN FOOTBALL PLAYERS'' THATS COMPLETELY BIASED AND YEAH YOUR RIGHT BROTHER , IT DOES SUCK FOR SECOND GENERATION SOMALI IMMIGRANTS LIKE ME BECAUSE I MYSELF HAD CHANCES TO GO FOR PROFESSIONAL CLUBS BUT MY PARENTS ARE ALWAYS BANG ON ABOUT HOW ITS NOT IN OUR CULTURE TO PLAY FOOTBALL, JUST BECAUSE YOU SAY THE CHANCES ARE ''PRETTY LOW'' DONT MEAN WE SHOULD NOT TRY, OUT OF 100 SOMALI YOUNG PLAYERS THAT TRY PROBABLY 15 WILL MAKE IT PRO - THATS ENOUGH TO MAKE A NATIONAL TEAM , SO NEVER GIVE UP ON THE YOUTH OR WEY NIYAD JABAYAAN , AND WE WONT HAVE THE SUCCES WE'RE LACKING IN FOOTBALL, ALOT OF US HAVE PARENTS THAT WOULD KILL US IF WE DARED PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO FOOTBALL.
