Carlos Slim loses $8 billion as stock market plunges

Postby IRONm@N » Mon Aug 08, 2011 8:18 am

Think your wallet took a hit this week?

While many Americans helplessly watched the value of their retirement funds and stock portfolios nosedive as the market suffered its worst stretch in nearly three years, the world's richest man lost a bit of a bundle himself.

About $8 billion worth.

Carlos Slim, the 71-year-old Mexican telecommunications magnate Forbes magazine named the world's richest man for two years running, has seen his portfolio dwindle by 11% since July 29.

It's now valued at only about $63 billion, according to Bloomberg News

This is why I think stockmarket is worth than gambling and should be outlawed. how can you lose 8 billion that easily?
