North korea? VS Somalia (my take on it)

Postby Coeus » Wed Aug 10, 2011 12:44 am

This country is Isolated and is on a longterm sanction by the West and some of its neighbours.

Yet this country:

has 99.9% literacy rate
Enjoys a diverse a economy consisting of manufacturing, mining & ship building. Mind you this is a people with a population isolated from the rest of the World. Yet it has a military industry, car manufacturing industry etc. And almost self sufficient in food.

Somalia is supported by the whole world
It has a considerable large diaspora
The country is at war with itself for 22 years and it has no manufacturing industry, or substantial export industry.

Sometimes i cant help but to wonder, would anyone lose sleep over somalis vanishing tommorow if the whole somali speaking region was under threat of severe drought (except djibouti)?

I know i might be downplaying North koreas problem, i know they have loads of problem. But with all the pressure they have upon them, why havent the leader or the goverment been opposed and destroyed by the ppl? Why havent they had an uprising, why havent north koreas military been divided by alliegences (like somalia civil war)

Wallahi tonight i realised maybe something that was under my radar. IF Somalia doesnt improve drasticly in the future, we will continue being a burden to this world and that i can tell you is shameful and humiliating.

The greatest difference is that Somalis are tribalistic moroyans who don't have any nationalistic feelings, their leaders are divided and agents of foreign powers, koreans are very nationalistic and united, people who understands their national interests..... nobody can hurt a united people. While young people on Somalinet is talking about how their clan is better than clan x, young koreans are talking about how South Korea can compete with Japan and China.

sxb, for guy as pessimistic as you are, I'm deeply surprised/shocked/disappointed you haven't noticed we were already a "burden".

Solution to Somali problems, we should be divided into states, in that way every one will be their own country and will lead them selfs there won't be anymore power sharing and disagreement of what qabiil should be the president, nin walbo iyo nabiyoow umadaa, maxa intaas oo sano la isku xag xagan,

How are we a burden on the world anymore than Liberia or Ethiopia or most other African nations? Africa as a whole is a burden on the world.

1. We get minimal "foreign aid", I dont even think we get any. Countries like Ethiopia, Congo etc. get hundreds of millions dollars. Somalia is not a bigger burden on the world than most African countries.

2. Our numbers in qurbaha is nothing compared to other nations. There are one million Zimbabweans in UK, and only 200k max Somalis in UK. There are less Somalis in Europe than Zimbabweans, Nigerians, Ivorians, Congolese etc.

3. The only reason Somalia is still got their head just above water is due to the fact that the Somali Diaspora send almost $1 billion back home to Somalia every year. We are the ones who has been feeding and clothing Somalia, not UN or EU, or whatever.

Dude, Im the most self-critical Somalia you will ever see, but Im bloody objective. I see whats wrong with Somalia & Somalis but I dont exaggerate. And I wish others didnt exaggerate and make up shit either.

Africa as a whole is a burden on the world.
