Somaliland: Vice President Held Press conference at presidential palace

Hargeisa ( JSLTimes)- Somaliland vice president Mr. Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail known as ‘Saylici’ accompanied by the Chairman of Agency to prevent Natural disasters Mr. Mohamed Muse Cawale and the Minister for Post and Telecommunication Mr. Ahmed Hashi Oday today held a press conference at the presidential palace.

The vice president told that Somaliland government is ready in taking part the assistance intended to help the famine stricken people of Southern Somalia.

The vice president further added that Somaliland government allowed humanitarian aid to Somalia via the port of Berbera.

He said, “We call upon the people of Somaliland to join the ongoing efforts intended to provide badly needed aid to the starving people inside Somalia. What made the situation from bad to worse is the longstanding conflict between the warring sides in Somalia.

Since we are Muslim and brothers, we decided to take part in order to provide to the starving people to do everything in our power to extend a helping hand to them if we are the people of Somaliland. We created a committee consisting of ministers that will put forward their recommendation the best possible way that can be assisted.”

It was recent when Somaliland government declared that it is ready to provide aid to drought affected people in Somalia and the government gave that duty to national commission that will put their recommendations forward.

However, the situation in Somalia is getting worse day after day when it comes to the people who are badly affected by the drought.
