Star Trek has always had really loose continuity. I don't think they generally care too much about it.

Deep Space 9 kinda busted teh rulez with it's Gold-Pressed Latinum; in the Trek universe the accumulation of wealth is redundant. I thought. Yet here they all are, not just the lobed-ones, trading

blame it on the ferengis and their rules of aquisition

it only applies in federation space

Its redundant to use but when you are in a situation were on a station the culture is fuelled by currency its pretty reasonable for humans to make alittle money when possible. Especially when so many other cultures / species values it.

A lot of times on Deep Space Nine Quark doesn't have to pay rent but in return Star Fleet can gain access to the holo decks for free like a star ship but any Vulcan love slave programs need to be brought with the latinum. Wealth is only redundant in the Federation.

lol....There are some “extreme” fans, ( Alpha, xaaski_cigaal), who I would be afraid of being associated with lol.

That being said, I have always been proud to be a Trekkie no matter how nerdy people think I am.
