Imagine if there was no Civil war? we'd be right up there with the top countries in Africa, and in terms of self-sufficiency, we'd BE the best in the business. We'd have people emigrating to Somalia instead of the other way around   .

But alas, it is what it is, Now what do we need to do as to prepare for the future? education. Educate yourself in the best fields out there, whether it be Medicine, Engineering, Law, Business, Pharmacy, Nursing, Science, Agriculture, Environmental sciences, and last but not least EDUCATION!!! We need all the tools necessary in order to fade off Western AND Asian influence, we cannot be dependant on the Chinese to build infrastructures or extract oil/minerals for us, we cannot be dependant on a Europoean doctor and nurses to heal our people, and most importantly, we CANNOT depend on international aid, I'd spit on it and throw it in the Sea. :som: :som: :som:
Exactly, well said! :som:

The production of salt can be also added to the list. Since Somalia has a significant amount of Salt, together with its neighbour Djibouti.

Somalia is full of resources and there are lots of potential export industries but the thing is Somalis don't have the nature to share things development of the country can become reality when Somalis trust each other the Banana production of the south the people of the south Believe it should only be used to develop their regions. The oil in the North Puntland regions the peole of that region believe that the resources should be only used to develop their regions. An African kenyan said once Somalis are great entrepreneurs and business people but they fail as a nation.

Well that is the National goverments fault. I dont blame somali civilians, since they are just civilians. It is a goverments job to mobilize and educate the Nation so that they also function as a Nation. The goverment before the civil war sadly did not excell at these things. But i am keen on seeing what these 2 years ahead of us will bring since they seem promising.

That's how it should be. I don't think people in Jowhar are going to build a canal for reer Bari so they can have a part of the river, and I don't think reer Hiiraan give Puntland free mangoes and bananas - the Puntlanders have to pay for it. So in the future if oil is found in Puntland, they should also sell it at a fair price to reer Jowhar and reer Hiiraan. In Iraq, when the Kurds dig up their oil, they sell it to the Arab Iraqis after they refine it but they only develop their Kurdistan.

Oil is a land commodity like agricultural land or wells - the people who live on it should benefit alone from the sales of their resources. If you have a water well in your land that you or a private partner built - you should sell it for yourself and gain for yourself.

Saaxib you have your own opinions fine. But do not disguise them as facts. Plus i do not want any division in this thread, i just want to point out and analyse my nations resources, without anyone bringing regional division.

With that said, you can partake in this thread by contributing with helpful information or photographs.

I'm a yes and no on this subject. I believe each region(state) should have control of their own resources, but I'm against the regional privatization of businesses to Clan leaders. I'm not very familiar with the subject of Federal and Provincial shares of resources, but I do know that each state is independent of other states and therefore you will have imbalances between some places like Bari and Awdal for example, but competition is necessary for the ultimate goal of creating infrastructures and job opportunities in Somalia, at least in the wealthiest places.
