Ximaan, Farmaajo definitely deserves credit but the point is without Shariif, Farmaajo wouldn't have become PM, no matter who introduced them, without Nuur Cade there wouldn't be the peace agreement and Shariif wouldn't have been President. In hindsight this has been like a marathon which has led to the TFG, despite the lack of constant leadership with changing PMs, to achieve a lot.

I didn't understand Shariif's decision to let Farmaajo go and like others was quick to judge but now I can see the wisdom behind it, finally with the crucial support from AMISOM they are making real gains with Al Shabab.
It wasn't Sheikh Shariff let go Farmaajo.

Farmaajo was kicked out by the UNITED NATIONS, they hated him. The see him as a obstacle. Cause Farmaajo was challenging them, telling them to bring their offices in Nairobi to Mogadishu, he was telling them to stop blocking the peace in Somalia. They felt he was the guy that will bring back Somalia, thats why they kicked him out. Sheikh Shariff is powerless, i wish he had the guts like Farmaajo. Farmaajo didn't care about losing power, he went at it and at it to the UN, back Sheikh Shariff is scared to lose power thats why he is a YES MAN, atleast Farmaajo made the Somali people to wake up. Indeed Farmaajo was a wake-up call to Somalis. He will be remembered, but sheikh Shariff won't be remembered, the guy has no history.

Stop insulting your president i said if he cleans Xamar from Shabaab he will go down in history as the president that defeated the Shabaabist. Cabdilahi yusuf could not bring back law and order in Xamar he could not defeat the Muqaawamo,, Faarmaajo and cabdi weli are just By figures, they dont hold any Power

I don't even like politicians so I am not going to start defending one but you are not being objective here. You have a huge Farmaajo crush so I will leave you to it. I never said Shariif kicked out Farmaajo, that wouldn't have been a good thing to start with but that aside what I had said was it was smart that he didn't fight to keep Farmaajo and risk losing AMISOM, let's be honest, without them Al Shabab would never be defeated. Now that peace is going to be established the UN will have to relocate to Mogadishu so in the end we win.

Somehow you are turning this into Farmaajo fan club debate as if anything good said about the President is taking credit away from the ex-PM. Just to let you know, history books will record Farmaajo and they will record Sheikh Shariif, but they won't be recording you so quit working so hard. You are acting as though Farmaajo was the PM soley for you and not for the whole of Somalia.

AMISOM did not threat Sheikh Shariff but they told Farmaajo 'get out or we leave', so it was Farmaajo that took the bullet and left his power in order to keep AMISOM.

Do not personalise the argument, its none of your business if i'm his fan.

Kabul is more dangerous than Xamar, and the UN still have bases there, so i doubt if UN will re-locate soon, unless sheikh shariif or PM Abdiwali tell them, hopefully they will be brave like Farmaajo and challenge the UN.

We've seen many false dawns in Somalia. Billions of dollars have been given in aide during operation restore hope in the last famine in the 90's. As recently as 2006 we've witnessed a peaceful Mogadishu. The question today is, have somalis from Somalia learned to build things through conensus? Or will they continue the vicious cycle of relying on foreign powers and using force to exert their authority.

It is the last ten days of Ramadan, let us pray that Somalia will find a solution that will reconcile the warring factions and remove foreign soldiers and bring a brighter future.

I think we definitely underestimated Sheikh Shariif, he's the one who led the ICU during those months when Ethiopia was in Somalia and we were fighting to have them removed. Those 6 months that the ICU gave us before that, the immense support he had when standing to head the TFG, bringing in Farmajo, not fighting the speaker in the dismissal of Farmajo and kicking out Al Shabab from Xamar even his visits to get international support has been fruitful with all the support Somalia has received from all over the world during this dreadful drought.

Sheikh Shariif through the TFG has made good achievements :som:
Well said.

You should be a politician, you can count on my vote if you ever decide to run for office. ;)

BlackVelvet it's true that Sharifs softly softly approach is paying dividends. It's obvious without his leadership style the success we are witnessing today would not have been possible.
If you notice, prime ministers are changed regularly with little change on the ground. Sharif is doing an excellent.

I didn't think you had it in you to think objectively. Well put.
