I fail to see what a poor old woman in her 70s would get out of fabricating a rape case, when there are no guarantees about such claims getting her anywhere than everyone else in similar situation. Specially taking in to account the stigma and social taboo attached to rape within the Somali community, why would she risk it? And why does it surprise anyone that some men are capable of such gruesome actions? It happens and instead of people being dismissive of her story, how about a little common sense? Just because other women may have lied about it in the past doesn't mean much, everyone's situation is different. A little compassion never hurt anyone.
