No, some people are pushed by force whilst others just migrate out of their own choice. In this case the Mareexaans lived in North Somalia and left there without being pushed but it was their choice to migrate 1000miles to Gedo. After they kicked out Borana and Garre by force.
Yup you are correct Awraadle, marehan did fully conquer those areas back then just like they are conquering arid camps in northern Kenya today.
Nah our next step is to conquer Moyaale and Eastside of Nageele. Currently we have extended to Deka and Westside Nageele in Ethio/Kenya. We also extended deep inside NFD. I want to reach the green moyaale also!

Mar-reexaan

Mar = Walk on, move past
Reexaan = sweet smelling flowers
I use to like marka subagga bur-cadka laga dhalinayo and the flavouring of Reexaan to go with it

Dumarku waa reexaan carfi udgoon leh

Women are like sweet smelling flowers

Historical descriptions of the clan's locations

There is perfect fit between the etymology of the word in Somali and the historical description and locale of the clan.

Mariixmaan and Sarmalay are merely two nicknames for the clan given the historical nature of their warrior culture.

Ma-riixmaan = those who do not get pushed
Sarmalay = Those that do not get cut

Open and Shut Case Johnson. There's nothing to see here people...keep it moving.

Of course voltage comes parading in here, ever so fond of his colonial "sources", too bad quoting his former overseers has no relevance here. This is a matter of perspective not of mistake-prone Westerners.

Awraadle
Of course you migrated! It was just out of convenience that you guys just decided you know what its time to go back to the blazing hot desert! I wonder though how is your kin in the northern ogadeen- jijjga zones? I hear they are on the verge of instinction.

about the other stuff you said, you really think i give a flying crap about nagelle and moyale, dolo oda or whatever? Those are southern shitty places  What green to you, is garbage to oromos! By the way you will never succeed, unless you act miskinaas begging to the arsi like you did in the 20 yrs ago.

The printscreen squad was around :D
Please tell us why this supposedly warrior cum conquerer clan left the Blessed land of Harer and end up in an arid land called Gedo...all this without being pushed!
The unpushable pusher pushed back in the Bush?

You are an Oromo who used Oromo dictionary for an Oromo word. Do you see the disconnect here?

So what if Mar'iman is an Oromo word? Gay is a Somali word too, means go take it there and has same spelling and pronunciation as English gay, translation happy or homosexual.

As for those "sources", they are the written records of non-Somalis who went through the land and explained in all descriptions how the Marehan land is fabled for its smell, incense, and its quality of myrrh/frankincense and then you take apart the clan name and it means Walk on sweet smelling flowers.

Even responding to your last post made me lose braincells because the conjecture and what you erroneously labeled as "perspective" is only something a child would make or a person who has sup-par double digit IQ.

It seems to me our fellow Oromo snetters are still hurting from the whip they received few weeks back and this topic is merely a cover to perhaps start a dispute again when history is clearly unkind to their folks. You guys have been debunked and ether'd to oblivion, move on breh aint cus even a limping dog manages to hop to safety.

Same reason we left North Somalia. We migrated not pushed by force ;) now tell us, why are oromo's weak and looked down on? Our low cast tribes are more noble than ur entire oromo population. Don't mess with Somalis dude!

Awraadle,

Are u telling me the knight and damsels of harer, who ruled half of Ethiopia choose to leave Harer without being pushed and out of all destination they choose the desert ....they have been and seen the blessed lands of Showa (then Muslim), the uncomparable lands of Wallo...but they choose to migrate to the desert out of their own will

There must be sthg wrong with them isnt it?
Or is it u are just one of savage tribes in the middle of the desert whobecame somali as others became oromo...like your cousins the Boran Qululu (litterally translated as the Savage Boran)? well well rings a bell ....dont somalis call u savage clan?
My take is there were two svage clans in the middleof desert fighting over dry well like there were no tomorrow!
One claimed Oromo the other claimed Somali :ugeek:

There is nothing obvious.

What I saw last week was bareento philosophically baiting and manipulating voltage into the emotionally driven puppy dog you see today. Plus you guys turned it into this "marehan" thing? I was just giving it a poke through a oromo perspective. (<----Oops I forgot, I guess I cant say that? This must mean I'm stupid now)

But my thread was just for fun.
