Should Somalia belong to the Arab league

I was wondering that I overheard some Arab guys discussing about countries that make up that organisation so I asked myself may be after all We are the wrong oragnisation after all We are situated in Africa and We are African Muslims so why don't We be like ather non Arab Muslim countries Turkey,Iran, Pakistan, malysia, Indonisia etc. surely it is an insult to us as We are not Arabs and should behave and be proud to be a Muslim African country and besides what do We get from that lame organisation who doesn't even help it's own population promotes dictatorship and American intrest.

A lot of perks have come with being a member of the AL. I don't know why Somalis expect the Arabs, or the West or anyone else to "fix" Somalia's situation for them when it is they who are centrally in the mixture, but during governance and ever after Somalia received many economic and political perks being a member of the organization.

The way I see it is, we are not "hurt" by being a member, and in fact we could get access to more institutions like the Arab Development Bank and more sympathetic development money so if the positives outweigh the negatives there is no harm in sustaining membership.

Let us think practically.

As Voltage said being a member of AL gives Somalia a lot of access including market access which will be very beneficial to post war Somalia. Gulf Arab Sheikdoms do import everything so if we can export to them agricultural as well life stock products it can make Somalia a mid level economy.

I think it is beter not to sell yourself and be proud and dignified even if you are poor.
