Update on the Famine? Any rains reported in the South?

Postby udun » Mon Sep 26, 2011 4:27 pm

We need an update on the famine, and if there are any rains reported in Somalia? The autumn rainy season has started in other parts of Somalia, but I have not seen any rains reported in the Southern part of Somalia. Please update us if you're aware of any rains that have fallen in Somalia.

Only Allah can alleviate the devastating effects of the famine; We shall to pray to Allah that the rainy season will start and the starvation will end, Amen.

A couple of weeks ago I heard that it has somewhat gotten better! There's still a long way to go though!

No I haven't heard of anything. When it rains all the Somali websites will start reporting it.

It rained between Qardho and Burtinle. This is the second, perhaps even third time it has rained in Puntland since the drought began. Its one of those times I think to myself that it wasn't a bad idea to remain in our regions, they seem to be more stable climate-wise than the south.

Donor fattigue perhaps .

The response was unprecedented from somalis too. I guess, it will enrich the pockets of many. The worst part is that (although famine relief is a good thing) it will erase the propensity to grow food crops. It will also lead to more dependency; and warlord arming.
