The same reason Ciise Maxamud are called Riyoole. Both clans are notorious for having large quantities of a certain animal. The use of donkeys for transportation is most widespread around Banaadir region where the Abgaal live. The only other clan that uses donkeys that much are D&M but its originally an Abgaal thing. If you can find as many donkeys in use in Mudug, Sool, or Jubbada Hoose as you will find in Banaadir, then the name doesn't stick, but the truth is that Banaadir and its environs are donkey heaven in Somalia. The Abgaal should embrace it and use it to their advantage (too bad they aren't clever enough), other clans mockingly nicknamed after animals embrace it.
